A set of tactical combat rules for use with Stan Johansen’s STAR ARMOR
or similar, 1/300 scale sci-fi miniatures. This was originally written in 1978 by Stan after he and his local game group played Steve Jackson’s hex & counter game, Ogre. The group all liked the game, but being tabletop wargamers, wanted something miniatures based. The result was this quick and easy rules set.

Our 2021 version has added all of the known missing equipment. Some of those were prototype models that never went into production, and some were items that were sculpted later. If the 1978 edition of the rules were ever updated to include them, we have never seen a copy. I did specifically say “known missing equipment” because information on this range of minis is very limited. If more items turn up, we will happily revise the rules to include them.

The other item we added as a bit of back story about the rules name “Gunship 2000”. It was not mentioned in the original rules at all, but likely it referred to the year 2000 which back then, seemed like a long ways away… surely we’d have flying cars and whatnot by then, right? With the benefit of hindsight, we knew that would not fly today. The rules put the combat hovercraft right up on the cover in a place of prominence, so we felt it must be important. We decided to run with that and so we introduced the Daltom Corp. combat hovercraft called the Gunship Model 2000. This piece of equipment was so pivotal to the way warfare was conducted, that it earned a spot in the cover art, rules name, and in our mini packs. By that, we are referring to the core set pack will cover early (sci-fi) Earth wars up to the development of the combat hovercraft gunships. Our 1st expansion pack will cover the larger tanks, long range missile launches, etc. that all came later. Then our 2nd expansion pack will cover the alien invasion of Earth, and the rise of the Mechs. This will allow gamers to step into it a little at a time.
New molds are currently being made and the minis will be available soon.
The rules are available as a pdf here.
